2009 Community Information & Referral Conference

Set aside September 28 and 29, 2009 to attend the 8th annual Community Information and Referral Conference.  The Conference will take place at the Delta Calgary South Hotel in Calgary, Alberta and is sponsored by InformCanada and Distress Centre Calgary.

The theme of this year's conference is "Family, Community, Diversity." It is an invitation for all organizations providing Information and Referral to explore how we can meet the changing needs of our communities and the families in them, while valuing and honouring diversity.

Registration is now open, so take advantage of the Early Bird special price until Aug 31, 2009. The full 3-day registration for AIRS/InformCanada/InformOntario members is $300; the one-day fee is $150. For non-members, the Early Bird pricing is $350 (for 3 days) or $210 for one day.

Conferences for the Information and Referral sector in 2009.


The InformOntario symposium will once again be at Durham College in Oshawa, on May 5-6, 2009. This year's theme is Helping our Networks and Communities Grow. More information is posted on InformOntario website.


AIRS annual conference is now accepting registrations for its event in Reno, Nevada May 31-June 3, 2009. This year’s theme is Mining for I&R Execllence. Conference information is on the AIRS website.


The national CCIRC conference is being hosted by Distress Centre Calgary on September 28-29, 2009 at the Delta Calgary South Hotel, Calgary. The theme is Family, Community, Diversity.  More details coming soon.

2007 Canadian Community I&R Conference

Signing of the Sublicensing Agreement for the Canadian Taxonomy of Human Services

October 24, 2006 -- Canadian Community Information and Referral Conference, Niagara Falls, Ontario; remarks made by Paul Bartel, InformCanada, President.

It's not often that we are called upon to take part in a historic act involving one of the tools of our trade.  But today we are celebrating the signing of a pact that for our own small field of Information and Referral is indeed momentous. I am thrilled to officially announce the emergence of a new North American classification system built on the foundational AIRS/INFO LINE Taxonomy of Human Services, marked by the signing of a sublicencing agreement between InformCanada Federation and 211 LA County. This announcement is important to information and referral providers from all sectors, and everyone who believes that improved efficiencies can lead to more dollars directed to front line service delivery.

Canadian Community Information and Referral Conference

On October 23 & 24, 2006, Helping in Times of Crisis, the Canadian Community Information and Referral Conference (CCIRC) was held in beautiful Niagara Falls, Ontario.

InformCanada partnered with affiliate InformOntario and host organization, Information Niagara. The conference featured best practices in I&R, including new information resources and information technology tools developed through the 211 Ontario Project, and current news on the 211 initiative across Canada.

The conference theme "Helping in Times of Crisis", encouraged participants to consider past and emerging roles for I&R in times of crisis. Presentations and related information can be found on the conference website.

2005 CCIRC

“Making Connections", the 2005 Canadian Community Information and Referral Conference, hosted by Information Services Vancouver (ISV) was a resounding success. Held on Granville Island on October 24 and 25, 170 delegates from many different parts of the country enjoyed a variety of workshops and presentations during the two-day event.
