Accreditation

432451_my_red_pencilAccreditation is a cooperative effort between the I&R service and InformOntario to establish a strong foundation on which the I&R service can demonstrate credibility, meet and exceed industry standards and adhere to a process of continual improvement.

InformOntario’s goal is to accredit any requesting member agency that meets the InformOntario Standards.

Why should I become accredited?
Accreditation tells the world that your agency has achieved a measured and high level of I&R management and service delivery. In today's atmosphere of required accountability and transparency, the achievement of accreditation is one of the first steps an agency can take in gaining the recognition of many funders. The process of achieving accreditation is also a wonderful tool for the agency itself to use to develop from within.

Should I apply for InformOntario accreditation, or AIRS, or both?
AIRS accreditation is necessary for agencies planning on being 211 Centres. It's more intensive and more expensive than InformOntario accreditation. We'd suggest that agencies not planning on being 211 Centres apply for InformOntario accreditation.

How much does it cost?
The cost is $500. If an On-Site Review is required, travel costs will be added.

How long is the accreditation for?
An agency is accredited for three years from the date of the granting of accreditation.

When can I apply?
You can apply anytime that you feel your agency is ready. The process and standards are posted on the InformOntario website. You should read the information package on the InformOntario members website, work through the document and prepare all necessary documentation and make sure you meet all the requirements before you apply. The process is ongoing so you don't have to apply at any specific time of year. You must be an InformOntario member in good standing, and continue so throughout your accreditation period.

How do I apply?
The first step is to obtain the Application Form for Accreditation (PDF), from the website, fill it in and send it with your cheque to InformOntario.

How long does it take to become accredited?
Once you have been accepted for accreditation, you must complete the process within three months.

Will I be able to get help with my application?
Yes, an Accreditation Committee Liaison will be available, at no extra charge to you, to answer your questions.

What happens if I don't become accredited within the three month limit, or I fail?
You may appeal (see details within the appeal process) if you think there was something wrong with the process. If there are problems with your agency fulfilling the requirements of accreditation, you will be given some assistance from the Accreditation Liaison person and it may be to your advantage to re-apply.
